Who: Jennifer Lopez and dancer/choreographer Cris Judd

When: September 29, 2001

Where: A private estate in Calabasas, California

The engagement:
While Cris Judd reportedly asked for the actress/singer's hand in marriage during a barbeque in Los Angeles, the celebrity couple chose a more upscale venue to announce their intentions to family and friends. Over one hundred and forty guests, including such luminaries as actors Jude Law and Vince Vaughn, and fashion photographer Herb Ritts toasted the upcoming nuptials of the Bronx beauty and her fiance at one of LA's most stylish eateries, Morton's on Melrose Avenue.

The ceremony:
The heady aroma of 10,000 roses, both in the bride's signature color of white as well as blooms tinged with a slight blush of color for contrast, sweetened the air at the outdoor evening ceremony. The singer's two sisters, who served as bridesmaids, and her maid of honor, a friend from childhood, walked down an aisle carpeted with rose petals before the bride made her grand entrance.  For theatrical impact, the service ended just as the moon began its ascent in the evening sky.

The dress:  Famous for her fashion sense, Jennifer Lopez opted for a mixture of demure and daring with an original Valentino creation. Delicate Chantilly lace and silk hearkened back to another era, while a plunging neckline and back brought a touch of modernity to the gown. A cluster of white rosebuds helped to fasten her lace and silk tulle veil to her hair, which had been neatly arranged in a bun by famed hairstylist Oribe. The bride carried a cascading bouquet of pure white roses which harmonized with the blossoms adorning her headpiece.

The reception:  The one hundred and seventy guests remained until four in the morning at the estate for a reception which featured the Latin rhythms of a salsa band as well as a deejay.

The honeymoon:
The early morning hours saw the newlyweds ride away in a limosine for a honeymoon in Italy, where the couple escaped the paparazzi's lens at the home of fashion designer Donatella Versace.
