Celebrity Wedding Dresses

A wedding dress expresses a bride's personality as well as hopes and dreams, and the dresses worn by celebrities do it in grand style. Here's a look at the spectacular wedding gowns worn by Hollywood's top names on their special day:

Kelis

Hip hop's shining star Kelis was a verdant vision in a gown composed of varying degrees of layered green chiffon by British designer Matthew Williamson, who enhanced the garment with antique gold threads fashioned across the bodice in a floral motif, followed by a flowing ballroom skirt. Matthew Williamson's creations have become must haves for such fashion forward celebrities as Madonna, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kate Hudson.

Julia Roberts

Lyle Lovett understood Julia Roberts' unique sense of style when he handpicked an understated white slip dress created by Comme Des Garcons for his "Pretty Woman" to wear. Not wanting to detract from the simple beauty of the garment, the bride's only accessory was a diaphanous veil, which she wore wrapped around her head in scarf-like fashion.

Years later, Julia chose French-born designer Judith Bodart Beylerian to construct a blushing pink cotton dress embellished with pearls, intricate beadwork and hand-painted flowers for her midnight nuptials to second husband Danny Moder.

Gwen Stefani

Gwen Stefani is known for her cutting edge style, but when the time came to choose her wedding ensemble the music maven turned to John Galliano from the house of Dior, who concocted a traditional confection in varying shades of pink, the bride's signature color.

Jennifer Lopez

A fashion mogul in her own right, no one knows how to make a dramatic entrance quite like Jennifer Lopez. For her first walk down the aisle, Jenny From The Block chose a scoop-necked, ivory gown with daring lace side panels by Escada.

In 2001 JLo exchanged vows with choreographer Cris Judd in a classic Valentino design fashioned of Chantilly lace and silk, while for her 2004 secret ceremony with singer Marc Anthony the entertainer was garbed in an ivory lace creation by designer to the stars Vera Wang, which was paired with a lace parasol and $7 million dollars worth of diamond jewelry.

Jasmine Guy

Once a student at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center, "A Different World" actress Jasmine Guy turned to former "Solid Gold" and "Fame" dancer Gigi Hunter, a designer whose roster of clients include Pamela Anderson, Halle Berry and Jada Pinkett Smith, to interpret her vision of the perfect wedding gown-- a pearl-encrusted creation fashioned of silk-knit, which hugs every curve.

Mariska Hargitay

The color pink is synonymous with 1950's blonde bombshell Jayne Mansfield, and when the time arrived for "Law and Order SVU" star Mariska Hargitay to walk down the aisle she honored her mother's memory by donning a Carolina Herrera creation in a subtle shade of the color.

Courteney Cox

Even though Courteney Cox and David Arquette posed in Halloween costumes for the photo that accompanied their wedding invitations, on the big day the sitcom star opted for an elegant ivory silk crepe confection by Valentino. The 1930's-style, long-sleeved gown was paired with an antique necklace and a small bouquet of deep red roses.
