Just Married: How Do You Plan to Decorate Your Car?

Do you have an idea how you'd like to decorate your wedding getaway car? And do you want to decorate the car yourself or would you rather friends took on the task--or would you rather rent a car/limo for the evening?

Well, according to a recent poll of 500 people by the popular car lease transfer site LeaseTrader.com, 37 percent of respondents prefer to decorate their own getaway car as opposed to renting temporary transportation for the evening.

Just how those who were surveyed would choose to decorate their wedding car won't be a surprise to anyone interested in a destination wedding: themes ruled the day. Here are the top four themes the customers of LeaseTrader.com selected as the best wedding getaway car themes--along with the car they'd choose to decorate!

Exotic / Beach Theme: Breath-taking venues, warm hues, great weather, and flavorful food make exotic weddings a top choice for many summer weddings. Combining both exotic flowers and weaved palm leaves creates a very tropical contrast. The vibrant colors are accentuated by the green background. Adorn the back of your convertible with weaved palm leaves and beautiful flowers. Vehicle Pairing: BMW M6 convertible.

Traditional Theme: For many generations, stringed cans and the words “Just Married” were what you’d expect to see on a getaway car. Fast forward to today, give your car the old-fashion treatment with the modern twist. Custom make your appliqué in accordance to the same typography and colors that you used for your invitations. Apply the appliqué to the side or back-window of your car. Vehicle Pairing: Jaguar XKR.

Eco-Chic Theme: Mini Coopers are great cars for couples who are both concerned with being environmentally responsible (37 mpg) and making a chic impression on their wedding day. Dress up your Mini Cooper with mini bouquets and embellished ribbons on your special day. Opt for flowers that were grown by local farmers as well as organic cotton for the ribbons. Visit your local arts and crafts store and sew on small rocks to give a stunning contrast to the delicate fabric. Vehicle Pairing: Mini Cooper.

Hollywood / Modern Theme: Nothing says Hollywood louder than lights. When making your getaway, have runway lights shining on your car. A semi-transparent fog will allow your lights to create a streaming effect. Are crystals a main part of your wedding? Carefully apply crystals to the front grill of your car for a more fabulous effect. Vehicle Pairing: Bentley GTC.

10242008: Think Pink When Choosing A Bridal Bouquet

While traditional brides may prefer the pristine palette of white for the floral finery they carry when they file down the aisle, many modern day soon-to-be Mrs. think pink when choosing a wedding day bouquet. From just a hint of the hue to passionate hot pink petals, a burst of color can bring a bit of the bride's personality to the botanical beauty she holds on the day she vows to have and to hold, from this day forward.

According to Liza Roeser-Atwood, the founder and CEO of FiftyFlowers, com, "Colors show a bride's fun side while white flowers exude elegance and romance. But now they say pink could be the new white. It compliments all skin types and tones."

A bevy of blossoms are available in a variety of pink shades. Add a tropical tone to your ceremony with bright pink calla lilies or the fragile fuchsia forms of orchids, which are said to symbolize rare beauty. Magenta tones highlight the grandeur of hydrangea, while the blush of Gerber daisies or organic roses denotes innocent joy. Brides should also never underestimate the power of the petal to make a statement after the ceremony, as rose petals tinged with a pink tint blesses a couple's union as they rain down upon the newlyweds as they take their first steps together as husband and wife.

80401: More Wedding Companies Going Green

We're seeing more and more wedding vendors offering green options for wedding couples. Some, of course, are limited geographically but the ideas are ones that you can take with you whether your wedding is in Boston or Barbados.

For couples in the South Shore and greater Boston area, Five Star Concierge Services will recover leftover items and redirect them accordingly to hospitals, assisted living facilities, food banks, shelters and local organizations. This includes picking up the floral arrangements, centerpieces, non-perishable food and other items that are usually left behind after an event.

“We’ll even pick up the bride and bridesmaids dresses and deliver them to charitable foundations that resell or redirect the dresses for various causes,” said Client Services Manager, John Morgan.

Wherever your wedding will be, Allgreenwedding.com permits environmentally friendly brides and grooms to set-up a gift registry and view products and services from ecologically sensitive merchants.

80328: New Demand for Blue Flowers Reported

If you are planning a wedding with a blue color scheme, you know there are a limited number of blue flowers to select from...but apparently that's not keeping demand down for blue silk flowers. In the first three months of this year, www.SilkBouquets.co.uk reports a 350% increase for orders from soon-to-be-wed couples looking specifically for fresh, vibrant blue blooms.

According to the UK-based company, last year's demand was highest for cream color flowers but this year blue is coming in with a bang. According to Cathy Frith of SilkBouquets.co.uk, "the interest in blue colour schemes has come as a complete surprise to us, In January we sat down and designed a new range of products, one of which was the Blue and Silver Hydrangea Bridal Shower. Amazingly it started to get enquiries straight away! By the end of January we had exhausted the entire stock of component items such as the flowers, leaves and other items that are used to make this range of silk wedding flowers. Fortunately we have been able to secure a significant amount of stock which we hope will last until the end of this year."

Along with bouquets, the company is also seeing a demand for Blue and Silver Wrist Corsages, Blue and Silver Lapel Corsages, matching table decorations, pew ends, wedding car decorations, bridesmaid posies and buttonholes...all in blue!

80321: Heirloom Hourglass Now Offers Sand Unity Ceremony Accessories

"To see a World in a Grain of Sand and a Heaven in a Wild Flower, Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand and Eternity in an hour."

Although William Blake penned the lines in the 18th century, the poet's words are timeless and capture the emotions of couples to this day as two simple words transform a fleeting moment into forever-- "I do."

While the steadfast flame of a Unity candle has often been employed to express the joining of two souls, many indoor venues forbid the use of candles, and couples exchanging vows in the great outdoors are discovering that weather conditions can put a damper on their plans to include this touching gesture in their wedding ceremony.

A Sand Unity Ceremony, however, which combines the beauty of nature with a symbol of time immemorial, is a trend-setting alternative way to celebrate an everlasting love. An Heirloom Hourglass wedding package, from New York-based company Heirloom Hourglass, provides two sand holders, a written ceremony for the officiant, and a glass funnel. Grains from the ceremonial site itself or from places which hold a special significance to the bride and groom are poured into the glass vial, the grains gathering together to mark each magic moment of marriage.

Heirloom Hourglass offers 15 different models to choose from, each bearing a nautically-themed name. Bases of wood or ocean stone, which can be accented with pewter heart closures, showcase the familiar-shaped timepieces, which become treasured keepsakes for future generations.
