Reality TV-watching romantics who tuned in to see the opulent :I do” dresses donned by US traveler brides on My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding will get a behind the ‘seams’ glimpse at the designer who creates the crystal-encrusted ensembles as Sondra Celli lifts the veil on her bridal business in the TLC series Bling It On.
From a gown that glows in the dark to a fantasy frock fit for a drag queen, excess is a running thread through the wardrobe work of Boston-based Sondra Celli, who has created extreme dream designs at the drop of a hat for over three decades with help from her team of seamstresses and “blingettes.”
“A Neon Wedding Dress!”
Episode one showcases Celli’s vision for a bride’s Vegas vows, a steampunk silhouette and a playful look for a pair of pet store proprietors and their pup for a Spring Gala benefiting an animal rescue organization.
“The Zipper Just Split!”
The penultimate episode features a self-proclaimed tomboy who wants design control over her gown; a cancer-survivor who is pretty in pink; a gypsy baby stroller that sparkles and the wardrobe malfunction of a drag queen diva.
“The Craziest Request Yet!”
From a bride-to-be with a pushy maid of honor to a ballroom dancer with an over-opinionated partner, Sondra Celli has dealt with it all, but in the last episode the daring designer finds herself facing the mother of all clients as her parent asks for a frock.
A three-part series, Bling it On premieres on TLC September 20th at 10/9C.
