For the past two seasons of My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding reality TV-watching romantics have been intrigued by the ornate “I do” dresses created for UK traveler brides by Thelma Madine, and on April 29th fans of flamboyant frocks will be introduced to a designer whose nuptial numbers are woven into the fabric of the close-knit US traveler culture as TLC unveils the new series, My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding.
TLC offers a behind the ‘seams’ look at a the making of a Sondra Celli wedding dress:
A ceremony with sparkle is a common thread among all gypsy brides, and when the time arrives for travelers to tie the knot they often turn to Sondra Celli, a Boston-based designer with more than 30 years of experience creating extreme dream ensembles under her belt.
Viewers who tune in to the first of the series’ eight episodes will witness the wedding preparations of Shyanne, a 17-year-old bride-to-be who became betrothed to her prospective groom after their second meeting, while on May 6th the show shines a spotlight on the crystal-embellished party creations which 14-year-old Priscilla and her friends don in the hope of finding their future husbands.
