After nine seasons, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition will come to an end on January 13, 2012 not only by helping to put a community on the road to recovery with new homes, but by rejoicing as a couple start out on the road of life together as husband and wife.
The tornadoes which tore away at the city of Joplin, Missouri on May 22, 2011 may have destroyed their home, but the natural disaster only strengthened the bond between Scott Ely and Natalie Gonzalez. After being pulled in the air by the force of the devastating winds, Ely vowed that he would exchange vows with his love if they survived, and eight months later the pair’s wish to wed came true with help of Ty Pennington, the Extreme Team and Men’s Wearhouse, which supplied black tuxedos for the I do’s.
“Men’s Wearhouse is always looking for ways to support men in need, and when we heard this story, we knew we wanted to help make their wedding dreams come true,” stated Sam Stogner, Vice President of Formalwear at Men’s Wearhouse. “It’s so much more than building a house; it’s giving a deserving family a fresh start, and it is an honor to join forces with ‘Extreme Makeover: Home Edition’ to give back to those who have lost so much.”
Fans of the ABC series are cordially invited to witness the construction of seven homes in seven days and the ceremony of two lovebirds who found strength in each other during the destructive storm as Extreme Makeover: Home Edition airs its 200th, and final, episode on January 13, 2012 at 8 p.m. ET.
