The Wedding: Jessica Whalen Skelley, a Fernandina Beach native, and Jason Skelley said their vows at The Ribault Club in Jacksonville, Florida on December 15, 2007.
“We wanted a location that was elegant, classic, and romantic, The Ribault Club was the perfect place for us,” said Jessica Skelley. “I loved the Gatsby-esque feel of the Club and couldn’t imagine a more beautiful place to get married than under the large live oak by the water.”
Jessica, living in Birmingham, Alabama while finishing school, hired Amelia Occasions to coordinate her special day. Lorna Meehan, lead consultant with Amelia Occasions, worked with Jessica to plan the perfect event. “My mother actually booked the Club without me ever visiting! Lorna was incredibly helpful and attentive, and our wedding was lovely because of her hard work. I can’t thank her enough for how smooth she made the process,”said the new Mrs. Skelley.
The Vendors: Amelia Occasions in consult with the bride-to-be assembled a team of Jacksonville’s best vendors to help make this wedding a national award winner:
- Gary Denman of Naturally Photography for photos
- Catering by Liz for food
- Bill Wilson for Flowers
- Beachview Tent Rentals for Tent and Decor
- Mystery Band for Entertainment
The Venue: The Ribault Club, built in 1928 and entered into the National Register of Historic Places in 2003, is a Florida Park property located within the Talbot Island State Park. The Club is now used for hosting events and meetings and houses historical exhibits that are open to the public. The Ribault Club can accommodate gatherings of up to 450 guests.
