The Year's First Bridal Show

Lauren registers for free prizes at the show.

Every New Year's Eve brings many marriage proposals and this year's holiday was no different for thousands of lucky couples around the globe...and for Lovetripper.com's own Lauren Kay, our advertising manager. Lauren and her fiance, Rob, will be planning a wedding in the coming months. Still weighing all her wedding options, both destination and local, Lauren decided to attend the Austin Bridal Extravaganza, held this weekend in Austin, Texas, and asked me to go along with her!

Lauren and I had attended this Austin bridal show two years ago purely for professional reasons. This year's show was much more personal as Lauren talked to vendors from around the area about all the wedding options.

The show featured over 175 area vendors covering everything from wedding and reception sites to photography, invitations, catering (with so many tempting food exhibits), flowers, and more.

Although I had talked with many of the vendors in the past, it was really interesting to talk with them with a specific event in mind. It's amazing what a huge number of options there are for brides and it's easy to see how a bridal show such as this can help brides narrow down their choices to a few favorites.

Once I came home and talked with John about the show, we started wondering just how useful a bridal show would be for a bride only considering a destination wedding. With that in mind, we wrote an article on bridal shows and the destination bride, a look at how these fun shows can assist the bride planning a ceremony far from home.
