Las Vegas Hotel Prices

Remember all those tales of cheap rooms throughout Las Vegas? Well, times have changed. You will still find inexpensive rooms compared to other cities, but don’t look for $19 rooms at most properties. With demand higher than ever (a 95% occupancy rate isn’t uncommon on many weekends), prices have risen, although good deals still can be found. The key is to make your reservation in advance.

Another option is to call the hotels directly. We’ve included toll-free reservation numbers and direct hotel lines in these listings, as well as internet addresses whenever available. Many hotels take reservations directly over the Internet (and some offer specials on their Web sites not available through travel agents. Sign up online on the hotel website for e-notices about specials, often ones with a short lead time.)

All hotels have a variety of rates, starting with the “rack rate,” the highest rate that’s given over the phone with no discounts or specials. From there, hotels have a complex system of pricing, depending on the month, the day of the week, the cycle of the moon, no one knows for sure.

In Las Vegas, that pricing system is even more complicated. We’ve seen $190 rooms priced at $59 on certain days. However, what we’ve listed here is the average price on a given day.

Highest Prices

You’ll find prices higher on holidays, weekends (Thursday, Friday and Saturday), and whenever there’s a mega-convention in hotel. Valentine's Day and New Year's Eve are top holidays, filling hotels months in advance.

Annual events that you can count on raising hotel occupancy include the Consumer Electronics Show (January), Super Bowl (end of January), World Series of Poker (April), Comdex (November), National Finals Rodeo (late December).

Lowest Prices

Prices are lowest early and mid-week.You'll also find lower prices during the hot summer months and in January, with the exception of the peak times mentioned above.

You’ll also find that there are as many prices as there are chips on a blackjack table. If at first you don’t get the price you want, try, try again. Keep calling, be somewhat flexible with days, and you very well might get a better deal.
