Gatlinburg's The Wedding Chapel in the Glades

The trill of songbirds herald the arrival of couples eager to take flight on life's greatest journey at The Wedding Chapel in The Glades, a small Gatlinburg gem hidden among a woodland wonderland, yet conveniently close to the downtown area.

Wedding Packages: The chapel offers a variety of ways to express your devotion, ranging from a no-frills basic ceremony and the budget-conscious "Couple's Special," offering 10 4 x 6 photos of a 30-minute intimate ceremony held either in the chapel or outdoors with up to 6 guests, to the ornate celebration of love, the "Mountain Classic."

During a two-hour expanse of time, a limousine arrives to escort the couple to the chapel, where the bride walks down the aisle carrying a silk waterfall bouquet. The nuptials, which include a union candle ceremony, are captured for posterity in both video format and in a total of 40 images and a set of proofs, which can be compiled in a complimentary wedding album.

The couple can toast to their happiness with their choice of either gold-embossed goblets or mugs before sampling slices of a two-tier wedding cake and a groom's cake. Following the festivities, the newlyweds take their honeymoon basket, compliments of the chapel, to their cottage at the venue's honeymoon resort for a three-night stay.

The Chapel: Gothic windows frame the verdant beauty outside as natural light pours into the chapel's interior, which is furnished with rustic wooden pews that face an altar area of stone and wood. A stained glass window flanked between flower-bedecked candelabras provide a romantic backdrop as the minister pronounces the bride and groom husband and wife.

Outdoor Weddings: Its beauty reminiscent of the classic children's novel from which it derives its name, a cobblestone path leads brides into the award-winning "Secret Garden." Here lovers exchange vows beneath a wooden pavilion in sight of a heart-shaped display of floral finery as a trickling waterfall murmurs in the background.

Honeymoon Accommodations: The crunch of leaves and the crackle of a fire in a wood-burning fireplace are the sounds heard by newlyweds at a stay in one of several log cottages, each its own private paradise complete with a kitchen and hot tub located on the front porch for an unobstructed view of The Great Smoky Mountains.
