Genealogy Vacations in the Four Corners Region
If one of you has an interest in genealogy, look no further than Salt Lake City. This Utah capital is home to the world's largest collection of genealogical records. Every year, the search for their family roots leads thousands to visitors to the Family History Library in Salt Lake City. Located directly west of Temple Square, this library is owned and operated by the Church of Latter Day Saints. This library is open to everyone and use of its facilities is free of charge for all. The library provides free films and classes on genealogical research for both beginners and advanced researchers. Beyond Salt Lake City, genealogy buffs can travel south to Provo, home of Brigham Young University and the world's second largest collection of genealogical records. Provo is also at the gateway to the Wasatch Mountains where year-around activities range from sleigh rides to hot air ballooning. Less than an hour from Provo, Robert Redford's Sundance Resort offers mountainside dining as well as plenty of adventurous activities such as cross-country and downhill skiing. Beyond Sundance, Park City also provides plenty of alpine entertainment ranging from art galleries to sumptuous health spas. Photo: Mormon Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah; iStockPhoto.com |
