Richard Branson's Rock Lodge at Ulusaba Adds Romantic Suites

Limited Edition by Virgin have transformed four of the original Rock rooms at Ulusaba’s Rock Lodge into two beautiful Makwela suites with private plunge pools. Makwela, the name of a female leopard who resides in Ulusaba, is highly respected by both staff and guests alike. In the last three years, she has successfully raised four cubs, three were sheltered on the Rock Lodge during the first few months of their life. It seems only natural that something be something be named after such an important member of the community.

Bordering the world famous Kruger National Park, Ulusaba offers a unique combination of superb game viewing and fabulous leisure facilities combined with a level of style, comfort and service that creates the ultimate safari experience. Ulusaba consists of two lodges: Safari Lodge, nestled between the ancient Jacalberry trees on the bank of the Mabrak River bed, and Rock Lodge, set magnificently on the highest koppie in the Sabi Sands. Ulusaba represents the true spirit of authentic Africa and its interiors are all reminiscent of a particular African tribe or region. The new Makwella suites consist of a luxurious bedroom with double king-sized beds cocooned by romantic Balinese mosquito nets. The en-suite features a free standing bath, his and hers basins and a large over-sized shower. Also included is an outdoor shower with breathtaking views of the bushveld. The comfortable lounge opens out onto a spacious deck with a private infinity plunge pool overlooking the splendor of the African savannah 800 ft below. The study, which includes complimentary internet access has a luxurious fold out sleeper couch, ideal for sleeping up to two children under 12.

The complimentary in-room bar consists of soft drinks, juices, mixers and large bottles of Bombay Sapphire Gin, Absolute Vodka, Johnnie Walker Whisky, Hennessay Cognac and South Africa’s very own Amarula along with munchies and other home made decadence. There is also the finest selection of South African wines and of course champagne. Each suite has a pair of binoculars and various bird and mammal books are provided. Tea, coffee and espresso facilities are also available in the rooms and the suites are equipped with a CD player and CD’s.
