Hickory Ridge House is located on a secluded country road in Putney, Vermont. The main building -- a brick federal manor house -- is almost 200 years old and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places for architectural merit.
Imagine yourself relaxing in our meadow, surrounded by stands of old trees, and perennial and herb gardens. Our gardens begin producing flowers in April (this year, crocuses came earlier, the second week of March), and continue to bloom through the end of October. We use our garden-fresh herbs and vegetables in many of our preparations. Ask for our rhubarb compote -- rhubarb fans seem to love it.
Summer is spectacular in in our corner of southern Vermont, and you'll be able to take advantage of mant outdoor activities here, including golf, hiking and biking. Foliage season is breathtaking -- we offer many opportunities to hike the nearby woods and mountain trails.
Hickory Ridge House, a bed and breakfast inn for more than two decades, is a perfect place to get away from the stresses of daily living, as well as for romantic weekend getaways and intimate weddings. We are happy to assist you with any details of your elopement or small wedding party.
Putney is a small, largely rural, New England town with a thriving community of nationally recognized craft studios producing glass, fabric, ceramic and other objects. It is home to the Yellow Barn Music Festival, a six-week long summer program of quality chamber music led by nationally recognized musicians performing in concert with the next generation of chamber artists, and is also convenient to Marlboro Music Festival, the New England Bach Festival, and other events.
Putney's maple sugar, cheeses, honey, apples, and other farm products will please every palate. And the greater Putney area will give you many opportunities for fine dining.

The Blue Room, with a four poster bed, wood-burning fireplace, and private bath with tub, faces out toward a ridge of maple, apple, linden, and cherry trees.
