Description:
Located on the Letort trout-fishing stream at the edge of Carlisle, Jacob's Resting Place is your perfect retreat. Built on land purchased in 1751 from the William Penn Land Grant, this gracious brick Georgian is one of the earliest remaining tavern-inns in South Central Pennsylvania. Mature trees and formal gardens surround this colonial bed and breakfast. After a day of travel or business step down the limestone and lilac terrace to the large swimming pool and relax.
Recall the glow---the slow dance, the warm touch, the fragrance of fresh flowers, and how loving the vows. Pamper yourself and the special person in your life as you remember---relax poolside, ease into a warm whirlpool bath, take in the moment and the history of the past, breathe slowly along the gardens and the stream and let the nice part of life receive you into its palm.
Jacob's Resting Place is an award winning romantic Bed and Breakfast that showcases American History. The Inn has been featured on HGTV and a History Channel production "Taverns by the Wayside." During the period 1800 to 1835 our inn was named the "Sign of the Green Tree." It has a charming history that connects to important events and people of years past. As a furtherance of its heritage, Jacob's Resting Place features three, four, and five day all-inclusive Civil War History Packages.

Special Packages
We guarantee you a superior experience---history dynamics, fine dining, and romantic lodging together in attractive packages. We will escort you on an intriguing journey through the 1800s. We have assembled accomplished experts to give you a rewarding memorable experience. Depending upon the package you choose, you may visit the battlefields of Gettysburg and Antietam, museums, and hisotrical locations. We will present pre war perspectives on the social, economic, and political structures of an expanding young America to set the stage for the coming of war in 1861 and the main act in 1863, the Battle of Gettysburg---arguably the most important event of the 1800s. We will explore the Gettysburg Campaign. We will examine the dey junctures of the Battle on the terrain where each happened---the Roundtops, Wheatfield, Culp's Hill, Cemetery Ridge, and others. We will walk the battlefield, to include the length of Pickett's charge, with the soldiers North and South and live their passion and grit in the thick of the fray. We will examine key leaders---their traits, strengths and frailties, and actions they etched into history. We will analyze the battle through the eyes of the leaders and get at the issues that separated victory from defeat. We will even picnic on the field in the shadow of Little Roundtop. We will also examine the human side and the character of soldiers and families---the men who gave their all and the women who held families together.

Directory Search Tips
Completely
spell out city and state/province names. Use "Los Angeles" rather than "LA" and
"Hawaii" instead of "HI."
Specify at least one listing type: Accommodation,
Cruise, Wedding Professional, Tour Operator, Other Travel Professional
You
may select more than one listing types if you like. You can search for all the accommodations and wedding professionals
in Cancun if you like.
You
may search any word used in the business description. Businesses provide a description of their services which
is fully searchable.
No
luck with your search? Try
a broader search. Instead of looking for accommodations in Paris,
France with honeymoon packages and a pool, try just accommodations
and France.
