Description:
Brewery Gulch Inn, a 4-Diamond Inn, was named one of the Top Ten Most Romantic Inns in America in 2001 and has been written about in Gourmet, Sunset Magazine, Coastal Living, San Francisco Chronicle Magazine, Wine Spectator and many more publications for its unique beauty and exceptional organic morning food, hors d'oeuvres and special dinners.
The distinctive and romantic Inn, one mile south of the historic town of Mendocino, combines yesterday's history with today?s comforts. On ten acres encompassing mature pine trees, redwoods, hundreds of rhododendrons and many native plants, this extraordinary Craftsman-style inn features 150-year-old eco-salvaged, first growth timbers. The site, overlooking Smuggler?s Cove and the Pacific Ocean, provides a peaceful retreat for those enjoying the North Coast's many recreational opportunities and the delights of Mendocino.
Each of Brewery Gulch Inn's ten spacious and luxuriously appointed guest rooms are individually designed to capture views of the ocean. Each room features seating in comfortable leather club chairs in front of the fireplace, down comforters, dataport telephone, clock radio with CD player, and armoire with color television. The bathrooms have a tub/shower combination; several have either a Jacuzzi or soaking tub for two. They all have terry robes, hair dryers and amenity baskets. Eight of the rooms have private decks. For additional privacy, great care has been taken in the interior soundproofing.
Upon entering the Inn guests immediately see a soaring steel and glass, wood-burning fireplace, a focal point of the Inn's Great room. The open space in front of the fireplace ends 35-feet above in skylights, adding additional drama and natural light to the common area.
The impressive Great Room is defined by fourteen-foot ceilings, tall redwood framed windows, and redwood framed French doors leading to a spacious deck, where guests can enjoy the ocean view or in pleasant weather have breakfast. In this comfortable, lodge-like room a gourmet country breakfast is served; Mendocino county wines and hors d'oeuvres are offered in the late afternoon. The red-stained stone floors throughout these two areas have radiant heat. A small library with books, magazines, CDs, and board games, and a gift shop are also on the first floor.
The style of the Arts and Crafts period has inspired the Inn's furnishings. The craftsmanship, utility, and clean lines of this period have a timeless appeal, making it a natural background for the Inn's design. The tables of quartersawn oak and accompanying spindle-backed dining chairs in the Great Room reflect the Stickley influence. Additional seating throughout the first floor is provided by Mission chairs and Deacons' benches which are made of solid oak with a warm cherry stain, as well as leather couches.
Brewery Gulch Inn is intimately tied to the history, the land, and characters of early Mendocino.
Logging in Mendocino in the 1800s depended on Big River for transporting giant redwood trees to the mill. As these trees were swiftly floated downstream, some of the grandest trunks submerged into the murky depths due to their tremendous weight and remained there, waiting to be discovered.
Over a century later, during a construction project on a nearby bridge, these logs were found deeply settled in silt. The perfectly preserved, 100-150 year old logs ranged up to 16 feet in diameter. Dr. Arky Ciancutti, a lifetime lover of wood, salvaged, traded for, and bought over 100,000 board feet of virgin redwood, ranging from 40-inches to 12 feet in diameter. He envisioned using the eco-salvaged, virgin-growth "guiltless" redwood as major components in a new inn. The chosen location on his property affords spectacular water views and is surrounded by hundreds of acres of unoccupied meadow and timber. This dream became a reality with the opening of the new Brewery Gulch Inn.

spell out city and state/province names. Use "Los Angeles" rather than "LA" and
"Hawaii" instead of "HI."
Specify at least one listing type: Accommodation,

You
may select more than one listing types if you like. You can search for all the accommodations and wedding professionals

You
may search any word used in the business description. Businesses provide a description of their services which

a broader search. Instead of looking for accommodations in Paris,
