St.
Croix: Fast Facts
Getting Around:
Taxis are easy to
obtain on St. Croix. In Christiansted, stop by the taxi stand
on King Street near the Little Switzerland shop; in Frederiksted
the taxi stand is located at Fort Frederik. Licensed taxi services
bear a license plate number that begins with the letters "TP."
Rental Cars:
Rental cars are
readily available; all you'll need is a valid U.S. driver's
license. Remember, though, that driving is on the left side
of the road.
Island hopping:
Traveling among
the USVI islands is as easy as moving from city to city. You
can hop a ferry or seaplane (between St. Croix and St. Thomas),
and there's no need to show documents on arrival.
Entry Requirements:
U.S. citizens need
proof of identity upon airport check-in, but incoming travelers
do not need to pass through immigration. It's a good idea to
bring along your passport, however, in case you decide to take
a day trip to the nearby British Virgin Islands. Canadian and
U.K. citizens need passports and photo ID.
