JAMAICA: JUST THE FACTS Entry Requirements: Visitors from the U.S., U.K, or Canada should bring along their passport or proof of citizenship: a certified birth certificate or voter registration card and a photo ID. Getting Around: Taxis are the easiest mode of travel and can be obtained at any resort. Look for red PPV license plates; these indicate legitimate taxis. Agree on the price with the driver before you depart. Rental cars are pricey, and are available from most major rental companies. You must be 25 years of age to rent a car and also show a valid driver's license and a major credit card. The speed limit is 30 mph in town and 50 mph on the highways, but be warned: Jamaica has some wild drivers! We've often seen two cars passing an auto at the same time, creating a three lane, one way road out of a two lane, two way highway.
