CAYMAN ISLANDS SHOPPING Duty-free shopping is especially popular in George Town where you can choose from china, perfumes, leather goods, watches, crystal, and more. Jewelry (mostly gold) is a popular buy and available at stores such as 24 K-Mon Jewellers (Treasure Island Resort), Savoy Jewellers (Fort St. and Church St., George Town), and The Jewelry Center (Fort Street in George Town). For china and crystal, check out the Kirk Freeport Centre (Albert Panton St., George Town). And don't miss the oldest bookstore on the island, Hobbies and Books (Piccadilly Centre, Elgin Avenue). If you're looking for something uniquely Cayman, check out the Caymanite jewelry. Made from a stone found only on the eastern end of Grand Cayman and on Cayman Brac, Caymanite somewhat resembles tiger's eye and is often sold in gold settings. Another popular island purchase is the Tortuga Rum Cake, made using five-year-old Tortuga Gold Rum. Sealed in a red tin, the cake is the product of a 100-year-old family recipe. Or, if you just want to skip the cake, take home a bottle of Tortuga Rum, Blackbear, or Cayman Gold.
