Bahamian Nightlife The most popular nightlife on Nassau is probably its casinos. Nassau is home to casinos at the Nassau Marriott Crystal Palace Casino and Resort and the Atlantis, Paradise Island. The largest is found at Atlantis (make that the largest in the Caribbean) with over 1000 slots and 80 gaming tables. The casino has a nautical theme and spectacular glass artwork. If you're in the mood for a Bahamian show, check out the Kings and Knights Club (242-327-5321) at Forte Nassau Beach Hotel on Cable Beach. For over 35 years, this delightful show has entertained visitors with Bahamian songs, dances, steel bands, fire eaters, limbo dancers, comedians, and even a few baudy calypso tunes. In a dancing mood? There are several discos on the island. At Atlantis, dance the night away at Dragons, 242-363-3000. Located in the Royal Towers, this nightclub is high-tech and high-energy. The bandstand is elevated 10 feet above the floor and the whole atmosphere is fanciful, from dragon sculptures to video montages of fire dancing and voodoo. Another high-energy nightspot is The Zoo, located West Bay Street at Saunders Beach, 242-322-7195. With a name like The Zoo, you'd expect wild nightlife and you're right. This dance club doesn't open until 8 pm and really gets rolling after midnight with die-hard partiers staying until 4am. There's a hefty cover charge ($20-$40 depending on the night) but you can get find coupons in many giveaway publications during your stay. |
