As travel journalists, Rick Steves has long been one of our heroes. We’ve clutched his guidebooks as we followed his footsteps through Europe. We’ve seen ALL of his TV shows, and we even met him a few years ago when he spoke at a conference for travel writers and photographers. So, we were delighted to learn that just in time for the holidays, Season 6 of his Rick Steves’ Europe series has been issued on DVD.
Season 6 includes 10 half-hour episodes of Rick’s favorite European attractions including destinations in Spain, Scandinavia, Croatia, and Slovenia.
In Spain, episodes include Córdoba & Granada, Andalucía with Gibraltar and Tangier, and Galicia (northwest Spain, and the Running of the Bulls in Pamplona). Covering the best of the former Yugoslavia, Steves dedicates episodes to Slovenia and Croatia, and then ventures from Dubrovnik into Bosnia-Herzegovina and Montenegro. Then, heading into Europe’s far north, programs feature stately Stockholm, striking Oslo, the lavish beauty of Norway’s fjord country, and an episode on Helsinki and Tallinn in Estonia.
Since 1973, Rick Steves has spent four months every year exploring Europe. He has researched and written more than 50 travel guidebooks, writes and hosts the public television series Rick Steves’ Europe, and also produces and hosts the weekly public radio show Travel with Rick Steves. He is currently the best selling guidebook author for international travel in the United States. With the help of his hardworking staff at Europe Through the Back Door, Rick also organizes tours of Europe.
