September 2005

Still savoring their first days of wedded bliss, newlyweds Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck were just two of the stellar spectators at the nuptials of Hollywood honcho Patrick Whitesell and FOX reality show presenter Lauren Sanchez, which took place at The Bacara Resort and Spa in Santa Barbara, California, one of the most coveted wedding locales for A-list celebrities. At the conclusion of the festivities, Jen and Ben headed out for a romantic getaway of their own in the Eucalyptus Villa on the grounds of The San Ysidro Ranch, which earned fame as the honeymoon retreat of John F. Kennedy and Jackie Kennedy.

The residents of Lake Havasu City, Arizona had stars in their eyes when Tinseltown twosome Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie arrived on the scene for a mini-vacation. From the private balcony of their suite at The Agave Inn, the couple could see The London Bridge stretched across the Bridgewater Channel.

Maverick movie director Quentin Tarantino always lives life in the fast lane, but even he was not prepared for thrills that accompany a few laps at breakneck speed around the Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee, the town recognized as "the birthplace of country music."

While no one could deny that speedway racing is heart-pounding excitement, nothing takes your breath away quite like the thrill of a new romance. Just ask "American Pie" actor Chris Klein, who wooed the new lady in his life, actress Lindley Gardner, at Raffles L'Ermitage Hotel, a Beverly Hills retreat which offers 124 guestrooms decorated with Asian and Scandinavian-influenced flair.

Chris Klein's "American Pie" co-star Tara Reid lodged at The Baglioni Hotel while checking out London's hippest hotspots for her new television show, "Wild On Tara." From the windows of this Italian-inspired retreat guests can gaze at Kensington Palace, the former home of the late Princess Diana.

Customers of the newly-opened Gesine's Confectionary received service with a smile from none other than "Miss Congeniality" herself, Sandra Bullock. Standing behind the counter, the newly-dubbed Mrs. Jesse James distributed free coconut macaroons to the patrons of her sister's Montpelier, Vermont pastry shop, which opened its doors to the public on August 2. The movie star is obviously a fan of her sibling's culinary expertise-- Gesine Prado baked the carrot wedding cake served at the Bullock/James reception.

Having completed her work on the upcoming movie "Marie Antoinette", actress Kirsten Dunst cast aside the powdered wigs and corsets she wore to create her character and spent a lazy August afternoon soaking up the sun poolside at the Chateau Marmont, the castle-influenced landmark which reigns over Sunset Boulevard.

The Queen Mary 2 recently became a Love Boat for music icon Rod Stewart and his fiancee Penny Lancaster. The sailing sweethearts enjoyed a cruise from Southampton to New York, lodging in one of the exclusive Queen's Grill accommodations, which provides the services of a private butler.

The residents of Vaudelnay, France, a sleepy wine-producing village in the Loire Valley inhabited by less than 1,100 people, received a surprise visit from actor Jude Law during the dog days of summer. The screen idol, dubbed The Sexiest Man Alive by People Magazine, spent the days at the home of his mother, who lives in the region.

Lovebirds Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O'Connell got along swimmingly in the pool at Gurney's Inn, a luxury resort in Montauk, New York where the cry of seagulls and the rush of waves from the Atlantic serenade guests at they slumber in the 109 suites and five cottages available on the site.

Couple of the moment Dominic Monaghan and Evangeline Lilly, along with their fellow "Lost" castmates Matthew Fox and his wife Margherita and Jorge Garcia and his new lady love Malia Hansen, mixed business with pleasure at the DVD release party for the first season of the cult hit, held at Turtle Bay Resort, an O'ahu oasis featuring 443 guestrooms, two golf courses, and a surfing school.

Former President Bill Clinton and Senator Hillary Clinton also enjoyed Hawaii's tropical beauty, traversing the rigorous 11 mile Kalalau Trail, past the bridal veil mist of the Hanakoa Falls to Kalalau Beach, which is all part of the Na Pali Coast State Park.

It is rumored that pearls were once gathered for the pleasure of the Queen of Sheba on the island of Bazaruto, one of five tropical islands on the Indian Ocean near Mozambique where Prince Harry spent a romantic holiday with his own treasure, girlfriend Chelsy Davy, during a break from his cadet training at Sandhurst Academy.

As filming comes to a close in The Windy City on the upcoming romantic romp "The Break Up," Jennifer Aniston threw a party aboard the cruise ship Odyssey II for all who made the movie possible, from fellow castmate Vince Vaughn to those behind the camera. After enjoying the view of the Chicago skyline during the three hour tour, Jennifer returned to her suite at the Chicago Peninsula Hotel.

Production on the much anticipated cinematic adaptation of Dan Brown's novel "The Da Vinci Code" began in August with actor Tom Hanks entering the sacred confines of Lincoln Cathedral in Lincolnshire, its Gothic architecture standing in for Westminster Abbey, which is mentioned in the book.
