September 2005
Although she celebrated
her 19th birthday days before in West Hollywood hotspot Il Sole,
Lindsay Lohan is still a kid at heart and on a day off
from work on her latest movie, "A Prairie Home Companion",
currently filming in the St. Paul, Minnesota area, the teen
star was spotted screaming with the rest of the riders speeding
past on the Timberland Twister, a roller coaster located at
the Mall of America in Bloomington.
Parents-to-be Britney Spears and Kevin Federline
recently enjoyed a day a pampering at the La Costa Resort and
Spa, a San Diego sanctuary set on 400 secluded acres which offers
a wide variety of treatments, including a Mother's Massage,
VIP Spa Journeys for Two, and Eastern-influenced relaxation
and rejuvenation techniques from The Chopra Center, founded
in part by Deepak Chopra.
A chorus of "Happy Birthday To You" rang out as forty-three
year old actor Tom Cruise and his fiancée Katie
Holmes drifted along in a yacht off the Dutch Antilles isles
during a brief vacation before filming commenced in Italy on
the third installment of the highly popular "Mission Impossible"
movies. The former "Dawson's Creek" actress has been
spotted waiting just out of camera range as her husband-to-be
shot action scenes at Rome's Trevi Fountain and along the Tiber
River.
Reese Witherspoon, who will soon appear on the silver
screen in the Johnny Cash biopic "Walk The Line,"
paid homage to the memory of June Carter Cash with a visit to
the Hendersonville, Tennessee home the entertainer once shared
with her legendary husband. The actress and her husband, actor
Ryan Philippe, were in the Nashville area to promote
the upcoming movie.
During their honeymoon stay in Sin City, newlyweds Sandra
Bullock and Jesse James dropped by the recently-opened
Wynn Las Vegas for a romantic repast at the SW Steakhouse.
Carey Hart may be living "The Surreal Life"
on VH1, but it seems as though the Motocross madman may prefer
the simple life with his fiancée, Pink. The couple recently
enjoyed a romantic respite from their fast-paced lives at the
Las Ventanas resort, the Cabo San Lucas getaway that served
as the honeymoon locale for Julie Chen of CBS' "The
Early Show" and her husband Les Moonves in December 2004.
Has the summer heat reignited the flame between blonde bombshell
Pamela Anderson and her heavy metal ex-husband Tommy
Lee? The twosome set off a tabloid frenzy when they vacationed
with their two sons at the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea,
an eight-story luxury hotel with a commanding view of the Pacific
Ocean. Although rumors ran rampant that Tommy proposed to the
buxom beauty with a black diamond ring, the couple have since
denied stories of an engagement.
Hawaii was also the perfect haven to tend to a budding romance,
such as the one blooming between Mary-Kate Olsen and
her beau, Stavros Niarchos III. The canoodling couple spent
five days in Maui.
As July winds to a close each year Queen Elizabeth heads
to Balmoral, her summer retreat in Scotland. Before leaving
her London residence the British monarch took the time to visit
an exhibit of her late mother's wardrobe, which was worn on
a state visit to France in 1938 and started a fashion trend
at the time. The exhibit is on display for the enjoyment of
Buckingham Palace's visitors from July 30 through September
27, 2005.
After receiving his degree from St. Andrews University in Scotland
and performing his first royal duties in New Zealand, Britain's
Prince William embarked on a post-graduate getaway with
girlfriend Kate Middleton and a small band of friends in the
wilds of Africa. The future king of England found the solitude
he craves at Lewa Downs wildlife conservancy and neighboring
Il Ngwesi ranch, 45,000 acres in Kenya where rhino, giraffe
and elephants can freely roam. (Those looking for an up-close
encounter with the bachelor prince can have their photo taken
with his wax likeness, which will go on display at London's
Madame Tussaud's in August 2005.)
Prince William is far from the only heartthrob on the
royal scene, however. His tussled blonde mane and poetic features
have made Andrea Casiraghi, the eldest son of Princess
Caroline of Monaco, one of Europe's most sought-after bachelors.
Lately, the twenty-one year old socialite has had eyes only
for gal pal Tatiana Santo Domingo -- the couple were recently
spotted on holiday on the island of Formentera before moving
on to party central of the Mediterranean, Ibiza.
The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel has once again become a regular
haunt for A-list celebrities, and in recent days Nicole Richie
and her fiancé DJ AM and on-again, off-again couple
Kirsten Dunst and Jake Gyllenhaal have been seen
bronzing their skin by the pool where years before a novice
model named Marilyn Monroe struck a pose for a suntan lotion
ad. In fact, the 1950's sex symbol seems to have enjoyed her
time at the hotel so much that her spirit lingers on to this
day within its confines. Several guests peering into the mirror
positioned by the elevator on the ground floor have reported
seeing their own reflection replaced by that of the legendary
screen goddess.
Mariah Carey, whose smash hit "We Belong Together"
has become the 2005 summer anthem for lovers, let her inner
child out to play with a visit to the Tibidabo amusement park,
a Barcelona landmark that has been putting smiles on children's
faces for over one hundred years. Days later the Grammy winning
songbird was spotted on a yacht off the island of Capri, her
favorite summer getaway locale.
Mariah was not the only star to be spotted in Capri during the
month of July. Iconic movie star Sylvester Stallone,
always eager to test his athletic prowess, was seen speeding
over the cobalt blue water of the Mediterranean on a ski jet
with wife Jennifer Flavin along for the ride.
Although in the middle of a romantic getaway in Antigua with
rugby beau Gavin Henson, Welsh singer Charlotte Church
couldn't wait to dive into the latest Harry Potter novel. The
teen entertainer was seen engrossed in the just-released sixth
book of the popular series as she soaked up the sun on one of
the 365 beaches the Caribbean island has to offer.
A bevy of stars, including "Survivor" newlyweds Amber
Brkich and Rob Mariano, newly single Shannon Elizabeth,
"Grey's Anatomy" cast member Katherine Heigl and "Lost"
castaway Jorge Garcia anteed up for the Bodog.net Salute To
The Troops charity event poker tournament, held at the Kahala
Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Honolulu, Hawaii. When the final
hand was dealt actress Estella Warren emerged victorious.
Soon-to-be wed sweethearts Nicole Richie and DJ AM
were just two of the stars trying their luck in the World Series
of Poker, which was held at the Rio Hotel and Casino, a Sin
City staple that showcases Penn and Teller's magic act and offers
a 12,000 sq. ft. gambling area with over 16,000 slot machines.
Meanwhile, Nicole's "Simple Life" partner Paris
Hilton and husband-to-be Paris Latsis found their own pre-marital
paradise on the Greek island of Mykonos. The paparazzi-favored
pair are planning two wedding ceremonies, one to be held in
the groom's homeland, the other in the US. Never one to settle
in one place for long, however, the party princess and her heir
paramour were soon on their way to St. Tropez, the place to
see and be seen during the summer months. Among the revelers
spotted in the Mediterranean paradise in July were Liam Neeson
and his wife Natasha Richardson, who celebrated 11 years
of wedded bliss on the sandy shore of Pampelonne beach; Tara
Reid, the new host of E!'s "Wild On", filming
an episode of the entertainment series; Usher and his
lady love Eisha Brightwell, who toped off their European romp
in St. Tropez after romantic stops in Paris and Milan, and former
Spice Girl member Geri "Ginger Spice" Halliwell
and '80's "Dynasty" diva Joan Collins,
who were both spotted exploring the area's luxury boutiques.
