June 2005
It was a family affair for Hollywood's latest "it"
couple as Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes embarked
on a five-day tour of the Mexican
Riviera with Tom's children, Conner and Isabella, by their
side. The adventurous foursome, who visited Cancun, Tulum and
Playa del Carmen, lodged at the Maroma Resort and Spa, a luxury
hotel on 200 secluded acres which offers 58 rooms and suites
and a variety of rejuvenating treatments, including Reiki, crystal
therapy and rebirthing.
Even celebrities want to purchase small souvenirs to remind them
of their travels to exotic lands. Million Dollar Baby star
Hilary Swank was recently spotted browsing through the
knick knacks on display at an open air market in Rome.
The two-time Oscar winner was in the Eternal City to collect the
David di Donatello Award for the Clint Eastwood-directed movie,
which won for best foreign film. Meanwhile, tennis ace Venus
Williams also indulged her urge to splurge at the Grand Bazaar
in Istanbul while in the Turkish city to compete for The Istanbul
Cup.
Jennifer Lopez struck a provocative pose for the 2006
Pirelli calendar during her stay on the
French Riviera. Brazilian bombshell (and Leonardo di
Caprio's on-again, off-again love) Gisele Bundchen,
who was snapped in a barely there black bikini in Cannes, will
also grace the pages of the upcoming edition, as will supermodel
Kate Moss, who smiled for the camera at Eden Roc Hotel.
Perennial movie star Richard Gere made a pilgrimage to
Petra during his recent trip
to Jordan. The haunting, sixth century B.C. city carved in stone
was immortalized on the silver screen in Indiana Jones and
The Last Crusade.
"Desperate" for a vacation once production wrapped
on the first season of ABC's top-rated television show, Teri
Hatcher and her young daughter flew to Estorial, Portugal,
where they checked out the local sights and participated in
a boat race. Meanwhile, Wisteria Lane's resident vixen Nicollette
Sheridan partied closer to home, helping fiance Niklas Soderblom
blow out 40 candles at his birthday bash held at the Hotel Bel-Air,
a Los Angeles landmark that has been graced over the years with
visits by such Hollywood royalty as Marilyn Monroe and Cary
Grant.
Just days before Paris Hilton said "yes" to
beau Paris Latsis, the heiress toured
The City of Light as part of a whirlwind tour to promote
her latest flick, "House of Wax" as well as her fragrance
(christened "Paris," naturally). The Queen of the
party scene was spotted at Sephora on the Champs-Elysees and
shopping at Christian Dior during her stay.
Continuing the time honored Kentucky Derby fashion tradition,
former "Beverly Hills 90210" star Tori Spelling,
Jamie-Lynn Discala and Rebecca Romijn all donned
their fanciest hats as they cheered their chosen horse on to
victory at Churchill Downs in Louisville.
As the old adage goes, "The way to a man's heart is through
his stomach." It seems as though many of today's A-list
stars are testing that theory by ordering romantic repasts at
some of the world's top eateries. Christina Aguilera
and fiance Jason Bratman celebrated their upcoming nuptials
by gathering their respective families (as well as celebrity
friends Penelope Cruz and Matthew McConaughey)
together for a party at The Buffalo Club, a sophisticated Santa
Monica supper club..... Birthday boy David Beckham celebrated
the big 3-0 alongside wife Victoria "Posh Spice"
Beckham at The Buddha Bar in Madrid,
where the couple enjoyed entertainment from a troupe of flamenco
dancers.....When in New York
City's trendy Tribeca neighborhood, Bubby's is the place
to see and be seen. Former "Buffy The Vampire Slayer"
Sarah Michelle Gellar recently sunk her teeth into some
of the hip diner's cuisine while on a romantic date at the restaurant
with hubby Freddie Prinze Jr.
Fans of Norah Jones escape the stress of everyday life
by listening to her music, but a relaxing spa experience is
in order when the contemporary jazz artist feels the need to
rejuvenate her spirit. The Grammy award winner, accompanied
by 15 friends, recently enjoyed a variety of tension-reducing
techniques at the Six Senses Spa on Phuket Island in Thailand.
Cliff Richard may be known as England's quintessential
pop star, but the singer was actually born and raised in Lucknow,
India, and on a recent trip
back to his homeland Sir Cliff reconnected with his spiritual
roots as he prayed alongside Hindu priests at the opening of
an ashram in Maharashtra.
While some celebrities are working on their summer tan, others
are hard at work on movie sets around the globe. Find out where
your favorite silver screen stars are currently filming:
Having worn the mantle of the sinister Darth Vader for the last
time, Hayden Christensen is now testing his acting chops
alongside Mischa Barton ("The O.C.") in the
14th century tale of lust and love, The Decameron, which
is currently filming in Florence
and Rome.
After a mini-honeymoon spent at The Bacara Resort and Spa in
Santa Barbara, "One Tree Hill" actress Sophia
Bush packed her bags for New
Orleans to shoot the supernatural teen thriller Stay
Alive. The newly-pronounced Mrs. Chad Michael Murray
was not the only celebrity to grace The Big Easy in May.
Cameras are also rolling on the romantic comedy Failure To
Launch, starring Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew
McConaughey.
Love is in the air on the set of Il Mare, currently shooting
in Chicago. The movie's
leading man, Keanu Reeves, has been seen out and about
in The Windy City with his co-star, Lynn Collins.
Brad Pitt has momentarily escaped the roaming lens of
the paparazzi as production rolls on Babel, his latest
feature film, which is currently shooting in Morocco.
At the end of May actress Ashley Judd said farewell to Little
Rock, Arkansas, where
her latest indie flick Come Early Morning was shot. Filming
took place at several venues, including the Hollywood Country
Club.
