February 2005
In January, all
of Hollywood's high rollers flock to Park
City, Utah for The Sundance Film Festival, an annual celebration
of independent filmmaking as well as a chance for Hollywood's
elite to hobnob with one another. Always ready for a party,
Paris Hilton and her sister Nicky arrived in
the snow-covered state still tan from their Maui vacation
earlier in the month. After days of film festivities Paris
returned to sunny California, where she attended a masked
ball at the San Francisco Ballet.
The epitome of
style, actress Elizabeth Hurley was the perfect choice
to open Estee Lauder Beauty Week at the Victoria and Albert
Museum in London. Tabloid talk runs rampant that the model
will soon wed her long time love Arun Nayar, who was also
in attendance at the exhibition.
Are they or aren't
they? While the debate over the marital status of Enrique
Iglesias and Anna Kournikova rages on, the Latin
heartthrob made beautiful music with his tennis star paramour
in the early days of 2005 on the Caribbean island of St.
Barts. The Latin lothario has obviously inherited his
romantic ways from his father, the legendary Julio Iglesias,
who spent the beginning of January soaking up the sun with
his long time love Miranda at Punta Cana in the Domenican
Republic.
Anguilla
has been a passionate paradise as of late for hip hop's hottest
stars, including chanteuse Ashanti, who was spotted
frolicking on the beach with her latest beau, Nelly.
The Caribbean island had been a romantic New Year's retreat
for Beyonce and rapper Jay-Z.
Turks
and Caicos is another Caribbean hotspot for Tinseltown
twosomes, and Parrot Cay was a temporary love nest for thespians
Matthew McConaughey and Penelope Cruz, who spent
the end of their New Year's holiday at the secluded resort.
The romantic retreat was visited later in the month by Paul
McCartney and his wife, Heather.
Newlywed Britney
Spears may have temporarily excused herself from the media
circus, but the pop princess enjoyed a circus of a different
variety in Las Vegas, where she and her husband marveled at
the acrobatic feats of Cirque du Soleil performers before
returning to their suite at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.
Awards season
is in full swing, and celebrities are in search of a fetching
frock to make a bold statement on the red carpet.
Australian pop
star Kylie Minogue, who has her own line of Love Kylie
intimate apparel, was spotted in the front row of a Karl Lagerfeld
show in Paris, checking out the parade of party dresses on
the catwalk.
Boyfriend Leonardo
DiCaprio may have caught her eye, but Gisele Bundchen's
heart will always belong to her native land, Brazil. The flirtatious
fashionista made a runway appearance in Sao Paulo in late
January.
Sarah Ferguson
was dressed to the nines at The Beverly Hilton Hotel for
The Golden Globes, but the Duchess of York looked just as
regal in more casual attire a few days later at the San Diego
Zoo, where the Weight Watchers spokeswoman got up close and
personal with several of the zoo's residents, including a
falcon and a sea lion.
Meeting the parents
is a rite of passage for every couple embarking on a serious
relationship, and over the New Year's holiday "Dawson's
Creek" star Michelle Williams flew to the land
down under with beau Heath Ledger to meet the "Casanova"
actor's Mom and Dad in Perth before embarking on an Australian
adventure in Sydney and the beaches of Bronte.
New
Orleans has become a new hotspot for celebrity watching.
Residents of The Big Easy are growing accustomed to seeing
The Sexiest Man Alive, aka Jude Law, currently filming
"All The King's Men" with Kate Winslet, enjoying
a romantic stroll with fiance Sienna Miller, or actress
Lindsay Lohan as she sample's the city's nightlife when not
on the set of her latest flick, "Lady Luck".
Will Smith
and wife Jada Pinkett-Smith revelled in the beauty
of the winter season in early January on a trip to Aspen,
Colorado, where the
action star was seen out on the slopes teaching his children
how to ski.
Lucy Liu
received the royal treatment at Harrod's as she arrived in
style in a horse-drawn carriage to launch the sales season
for the famous London landmark. Meanwhile, Lucy's "Charlie's
Angels" co-star Drew Barrymore was spotted taking
photographs of the wedding gowns on display in the window
of the Bridal Suite of Manhattan. Was the actress merely indulging
in a little window shopping, or are plans in the works for
a walk down the aisle with her long time boyfriend Fabrizio
Moretti? Only time will tell.
