Leonardo in Iceland

Before posing for the May 2007 issue of Vanity Fair on the Jokulsarsion and Snaefellsjokull glacier in mid-March, "Blood Diamond" star Leonardo DiCaprio relaxed in a suite at the acclaimed 101 Hotel. The essence of streamlined elegance, Reykjavik's boutique retreat, nestled next to the Icelandic Opera House, offers 38 guest rooms designed with a black and white color scheme, the modern features tempered with such nostalgic touches as clawfoot bath tubs.

Glitterati in Germany

Production on "The Bourne Ultimatum" will soon be complete. When filming commenced back in February of this year, the thriller's first scenes were lensed in Berlin. For his stay in the city, Matt Damon booked a suite at the Hotel De Rome, a 19th century structure within walking distance of the Brandenburg Gate.

Stars in England

In a recent episode of the sci-fi fan favorite "Doctor Who," the tenth Time Lord and his new assistant traveled to Elizabethan England. For actors David Tennant and Freema Agyeman, this meant a trip to Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, a faithful reconstruction of the original playhouse where the Bard's masterpieces were performed. Open to the public throughout the year, visitors on guided tours can gain insight into the lives of Shakespearean stage performers through exhibitions of costumes and musical instruments. Tourists tempted to learn more about the Tardis can check out the largest compilation of "Doctor Who" memorabilia at the Museum of Science and in Manchester through November 5, 2007.

The sound of clinking glasses gave way to the whirr of a camera as filming for the thriller "The Oxford Murders" took place at The White Horse pub this spring. After filming a scene at the cozy Oxford bar (which fans of British television might recognize from an episode from the "Inspector Morse' series), the movie's stars Elijah Wood and John Hurt happily posed for photos with the venue's proprietor.

After a concert appearance in Liverpool, England's modern-day fab four Tom Fletcher, Dougie Poynter, Danny Jones and Harry Judd, collectively known as McFly, returned to their suites at the Radisson SAS Hotel a 194-bedroom retreat which is located less than 10 miles from the John Lennon Airport.

Jonathan Silverman, star of the ABC comedy "In Case of Emergency," and his soon-to-be bride Jennifer Finnigan, a cast member on the CBS series "Close To Home," took a break from their wedding preparations to host a party at Atlantis resort's newest hot spot, Aura nightclub. The Tinteltown twosome were among the first to enjoy the sunken dance floor and two VIP sections of the 9,000 square foot Paradise Island party palace, which was unveiled to the public in April 2007 during a launch party hosted by "Laguna Beach"'s Kristen Cavallari.

Royal Ramblings

According to England's Sunday Mirror newspaper, Prince William may be rubbing shoulders with Hollywood heavyweights during the Cannes Film Festival. The second in line to the throne has been invited to a party to be held at Chateau de la Napoule, a 14th century castle which is a source of inspiration for the artists-in-residence who annually call the fortress their temporary home. Open to the public throughout the year, tourists can marvel at the medieval dining room and art gallery, then stroll through a garden which offers a harmonious marriage of French and English elements and gaze out at the Cote d'Azur during an al fresco lunch at the tea room.

When Prince Harry heads to Iraq in May, he will take with him the memory of a romantic getaway at the Coral Reef Resort with girlfriend Chelsy Davy. Offering a total of 88 rooms, suites, cottages and villas, guests at the St James sanctuary can windsurf, kayak and waterski on turquoise waters or take a dip in the venue's two swimming pools.

Romantic royalists are offered a rare glimpse into the fairy tale weddings of five British monarchs at "Royal Weddings 1840 - 1947," an exhibition on display in the Drawings Gallery of Windsor Castle from April 27, 2007 through May 11, 2008. Held in honor of HRH Queen Elizabeth's 60th wedding anniversary year, the exhibition takes tourists on a time trip to a more genteel era as they begin the tour with the wedding of Queen Victoria to Prince Albert. The day after their wedding, Queen Victoria confided to her diary, "What I can do to make him happy will be my greatest delight" and the love she felt for her husband will be apparent to those who look upon the period drawings of the wedding procession, as well as such intimate memorabilia as a slice of perfectly preserved wedding cake and a ruby and diamond ring embellished with the words "united forever" engraved in French.....

Much like Diana, Princess of Wales over a century later, Queen Alexandra became a beloved figure to the British people upon her marriage to King Edward VII in 1863. Items from their nuptials on display include a badge of the order of Victoria and Albert, which was worn by the bride on her wedding day, a gold bracelet containing photographic images of each of Alexandra's bridesmaids, and a delicate wax rendering of an orange blossom which adorned the bride's hair as she walked down the aisle.....

Queen Mary's regal visage graces several of the items on view in the section devoted to her wedding to King George V, including wedding favors and a sketch of the bride selecting her wedding trousseau.....

The exhibition was unveiled just one day after the 84th wedding anniversary of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother. While an image of a kindly grandmother figure springs to mind when thinking of The Queen Mother, tourists will see a young woman in love as they gaze at photos of the happy couple in their wedding attire. Cherubic figurines that once adorned the bride and groom's four-tier wedding cake are also on display, as is a wedding present presented to the newlyweds by King Haakon VII and Queen Maud of Norway.....

Finally, visitors can gain intimate insight into the happiest day of the current monarch's life with displays of a wedding cake ornament, a program featuring a list of songs performed at the traditional wedding breakfast and an invitation to the November 20, 1947 ceremony at Westminster Abbey.
