Celebrity Dining, February 2007

Since opening its doors in 1862, the Cafe de la Paix has become a source of inspiration for numerous street artists hoping to capture the structure's beauty on canvas. In mid-February 2007 a living work of art graced the historic restuarant with her presence as supermodel Gisele Bundchen dined a deux with her new love, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.

At Beverly Hills landmark Spago, Leonardo DiCaprio and model Bar Refaeli perused through a menu listing such mouthwatering morsels as Veal Wienerschnitzel and Prime Cote de Boeuf before deciding to dine on Monterey Bay Calamari. A globetrotting connoisseur of gourmet dishes, earlier in the month the "Blood Diamond" star was spotted in Madrid with his mother and grandmother, savoring the Castillian cuisine served at El Lando following the premiere of his Oscar-nominated film.

According to gossip columnists Rush and Molloy, actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who caused pulses to race as heart patient Denny Duquette on the ABC hit "Grey's Anatomy," enjoyed a romantic repast on February 14th with rekindled love Mary-Louise Parker at Il Buco, a New York eatery which harbors its European wines in a cellar rumored to have inspired Edgar Allan Poe as he penned "The Cask of Amontillado."

On Valentine's Day Mary-Kate Olsen shared a table for two with oil heir Maxwell Snow at Brooklyn's River Cafe, which was deemed one of the Big Apple's best five restaurants by French restaurant guide "Gault Millau."

"Dancing With the Stars" champion John O'Hurley and his wife Lisa Mesloh, who recently welcomed a bouncing baby boy into their happy home, climbed a faithfully rendered reproduction of the stairway seen in "Hello Dolly" on Valentine's Day in order to sample cuisine prepared by master chef Alessandro Stratta at Alex, one of the many restaurants at Wynn in Las Vegas.

The sky's the limit for Latin superstar Shakira, who was spotted enjoying a heavenly meal at Il Cielo in Beverly Hills before returning to the European leg of her "Oral Fixacion" tour.

Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell recently perused the menu at iconic New York City eatery Cafe des Artistes, where the long time lovebirds savored a romantic meal amid murals depicting idealized images of feminine beauty painted by famed illustrator Howard Chandler Christy.

Before filming wrapped on the upcoming comedy "Fred Claus,"Oscar winner Rachel Weisz's penchant for pizza was satiated at Gino's East, a Chi-town dining staple since the late 1960's. The popular pizzeria has four locations in the Windy City and seven in surrounding areas.

Days before welcoming two new bouncing bundles of joy into his family, "Grey's Anatomy" heartthrob Patrick Dempsey was spotted looking over the menu at Pizzicotto, Brentwood's Italian eatery which offers such savory morsels as salmone balsamico and bruschetta.

Lovebirds Benji Madden and Sophie Monk, who made headlines with their Christmas Eve engagement, dined recently at the Newsroom Cafe, a celebrity-laden locale in close proximity to The Ivy.

Congratulations to Kirstie Alley, who will be appearing on the small screen this fall in an Americanized version of the long-running Britcom "The Vicar of Dibley." Fans of the former "Cheers" star will notice a number of Victoria, B.C. restaurants in the background of her upcoming TV movie "And She Was," including Pluto's Restaurant, which lists such vegetarian vittles on their menu as nut burgers, veggie chili and stir-fries with tofu; Ric's Grill, the twelfth self-billed steak, seafood and chop house in the popular Canadian restaurant chain, and John's Place, a diner that delivers a trip down memory lane complete with photos of screen idols on the walls and timeless tunes played by a vintage jukebox.

John Travolta enjoyed a sight that rivalled the view from the cockpit of his jet as the movie icon looked out on the Windy City from his table at The Signature Room at the 95th, situated at the summit of the John Hancock Center.

Kimberly Walsh of the Britpop group Girls Aloud enjoyed an epicurean experience worth singing about at Cafe 21, a Newcastle upon Tyne, England eatery located next to the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art.
