Feb. 14, 2007 -- Everyone knows there's a lot of smooching for Valentine's Day...but how about over 6,000 simultaneous kisses? To set a new Guinness Book of World Records, 6,124 couples puckered up on February 12 in Pasay City, just south of the capital city of Manila. This tops the previous record held by Budapest, where 5,875 couples kissed simultaneously in 2005.

But the Philippines says that they're a natural kissing king. "Romance is a big part of Filipino culture," noted Emma Ruth Yulo, Director of the Philippine Department of Tourism in New York. "Whether you've been married for years, or are first honeymooning together, the Philippines offers a magical environment for couples, and just the perfect amount of pampering to make any visit memorable."

Another plus with couples? The Philippines boasts of a combined coastline twice the length of the United States, including the more than two-mile-long White Beach on Boracay Island in the Western Visayas, hailed by many as the "finest beach of the world." The Philippines is also fast becoming known as the spa capital of the Pacific/Asia region with numerous award-wining spa facilities.
