Celebrity Romantic Travel News: North American Getaways
January 2007
Hawaiian Hideaway
The new calendar year marks a new beginning for Cameron Diaz, who
has been enjoying her recently acquired single status at the Turtle Bay
Resort, a Hawaiian hideaway on the island of Oahu featuring 375 guest
rooms, 26 suites and 42 cottages. The star of the recent romantic romp
"The Holiday" played a round of golf on one of the venue's two
championship courses which have played host to several PGA and LPGA tournaments.
Caribbean Getaways
Harry Judd, drummer for the British pop group McFly, is
ready to keep the beat on their upcoming 2007 tour after a relaxing holiday
at Rendezvous Resort, a boutique retreat on the island of St. Lucia where
guests can feel their cares wash away with the tide as they gaze upon
a stretch of white sand beach while enjoying a Swedish or Chandra massage
at the venue's open-air Pavilion Spa. A couples-only getaway, patrons
can book one of 35 verandah or oceanfront suites, 8 oceanfront cottages,
or 21 oceanfront rooms.
As tradition warrants, haggis was the main course
when Ewan McGregor hosted Burns Night at St. Martin's Lane Hotel,
near Covent Garden. The kilt-clad star's legs were slightly sun-kissed
due to his recent jaunt to Jamaica, where the "Moulin Rouge!"
heartthrob was seen at Round Hill Resort, Montego Bay's 4 Diamond getaway
which movie buffs may remember from the 1998 Angela Bassett/ Taye
Diggs cinematic romance "How Stella Got Her Groove Back."
Vegas Fun
A lucky bride-to-be celebrating her upcoming wedding with a Sin City bachelorette
bash has a memory to last a lifetime thanks to former "Buffy The
Vampire Slayer" star Seth Green, who posed for a photo with
the band of bridal revelers at Caramel, Bellagio's bar and lounge.
Taking a break from planning their upcoming nuptials,
pop star Paulina Rubio
and her fiance Nicolas Vallejo-Najera enjoyed Cirque du Soleil's erotically-charged
escapade "Zumanity," which is currently performed at New York
New York Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
While many young women dream of Latin sensation Enrique Iglesias,
it was the Grammy Award winner's turn to fantasize recently as he took
in the Las Vegas spectacular "Le Reve," Wynn's theatrical water
wonderland. More accustomed to appearing in front of an audience than
being a part of one, the pop performer has recently returned from Israel,
where he crooned for an exclusive crowd of 1,000 at a Hannukah party held
by billionaire Arcadi Gaydamak at the Tel Aviv Hilton.
Fashion in Film
Fashionistas and fans of flicks alike will enjoy the Fashion in Film exhibition
at Durham Western Heritage Museum in Omaha, Nebraska. From the fairy tale-inspired
"Breathe" gown worn by Drew Barrymore in "Ever After"
to the Edwardian elegance of the attire donned by Helena Bonham Carter
in "A Room With
A View" and the Regency era romance of a "Pride
and Prejudice" ensemble worn by Colin Firth, a total of 36 cinematic
creations accompanied by movie posters and video clips are on display
in the museum's Velde Gallery from January 25 - March 25, 2007.
Joaquin in the Big Apple
Joaquin Phoenix is the latest celebrity to "walk the line"
leading to "Bodies.....The Exhibition," a display of human anatomy
that raises this scientific study to an art form. Over the past year,
Leonardo DiCaprio, Natalie Portman and Marcia
Cross have been spotted touring the South Street Seaport exhibit
in New York City.
Indiana Fun
Even though their CBS reality series has been cancelled, "Armed and
Famous" cast members Erik Estrada, LaToya Jackson, Jack Osbourne,
Trish Stratus and Jason "Wee Man" Acuna will always have fond
memories of The Hotel Roberts, the 1920's era retreat that the cast called
home during their stay in Muncie, Indiana.
Courteney Cox in Mexico
The year ahead looks promising for former "Friends" star Courteney
Cox, who has made a triumphant return to the small screen
in the new FX favorite "Dirt," and her husband David
Arquette, who is currently tickling funny bones as a cast member
on the new comedy "In Case of Emergency." The Tinseltown twosome,
who will celebrate eight years of wedded bliss in June 2007, enjoyed their
recent holiday break at the Esperanza resort. Guests who book one of the
50 casitas or six suites at the Cabo San Lucas sanctuary can realign body
and spirit during hour long yoga classes, expand their intellect with
complimentary Spanish lessons and indulge their senses with a variety
of rejuvenating spa treatments.
