Accommodations: The Hotel Hassler, which served
as a love nest for the couple in the early days of their romance back
in May 2005, once again welcomed the lovebirds as they prepared for
their wedding day. While many of the invited guests also checked into
the 5-star retreat which looks out upon the Spanish Steps, others booked
suites at the equally swank St. Regis Hotel.
The Ceremony: If legend is to be believed, young
Isabella Cruise, the daughter of the groom from his second marriage
to Nicole Kidman, was not the only presence with that moniker to grace
the halls of Odescalchi Castle on the evening of November 18, 2006.
The specter of Isabella de' Medici, who once called the 15th century
edifice home, may have mingled among the jet set as they watched the
bride walk down the aisle, clutching a bouquet composed of calla lilies
interspersed with steelgrass and galax leaves.
The bride's ivory tulle veil rested gently on the Valenciennes
lace and ivory silk caddis train of her Armani gown as she walked past
150 guests, including Will
Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, Jennifer
Lopez and Marc Anthony, Victoria
and David Beckham, Brooke
Shields and Chris Henchy and
Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy. The Swarovski crystals which clung
to off-the-shoulder creation sparkled in the light as the groom placed
a white gold Cartier wedding band enhanced with diamond on to her finger
during a Scientology ceremony.
The Reception: The bride changed into a one-shoulder
Armani design for the post-nuptial festivities, its silhouette seemingly
inspired by the goddesses of ancient Rome. Embellished with Swarovski
crystals, the color of the silk organza creation harmonized with the
champagne which was poured as the happy couple cut slices of their 5-tier,
white chocolate cake covered with marzipan roses.
The Honeymoon: Luggage containing a bridal trousseau
from La Bra Lingerie of West Hollywood, which included a silk negligee,
a Swarovski-studded lace brasierre, and a robe embellished with ostrich
feathers was packed on a jet headed for the Maldives, where the lovebirds
spent 12 secluded days aboard a luxury yacht.
