Croatian
Princess Weds
November 2006 -- On November
4, 2006 four young bridesmaids in ballet-length ivory dresses strolled
in dainty ruby red shoes down the aisle of St. Stephen of Abyssina in
Vatican City, their presence announcing the imminent arrival of Croatian
princess Paola Doimi de Frankopan, who made a grand entrance in a Valentino
creation, its beauty enhanced by a lace-edged mantilla which draped
over her blonde tresses. Approximately 200 people looked on as the royal
bride made her way to the altar, where Lord Nicholas Windsor, the son
of the Duke and Duchess of Kent, waited to make her his wife in a Roman
Catholic ceremony.
Following the service, the
wedding guests, many of whom had rasied their glasses in toasts to the
happy couple at a pre-wedding gathering held at Palazzo Taverna, gathered
for a reception at Palazzo Doria Pamphili, a 17th century edifice which
offers a view of Piazza Navona.
