October 2006 -- Over the
years, Michael Flatley has tapped and leapt across stages around the
world, but on October 14, 2006 it was the Lord of the Dance star's heart
that jumped for joy as the Celtic choreographer watched Niamh O'Brien,
his love of the past year, walk down the aisle of St. Patrick's Church
in Fermoy, Ireland. Two hundred and fifty guests and six bridesmaids
dressed in black gowns looked on as the groom placed on her finger a
gold wedding band worth over 300,000 pounds, which she now wears with
her Irish gold engagement ring.
A man's home is his castle,
and following the afternoon ceremony the newly pronounced husband and
wife waved to the crowd of 3,000 standing outside the 19th century house
of worship and made thier way to a reception at the groom's home, Castlehyde,
where family and friends sampled shellfish, prawns, lobster and Irish
salmon.
Jubilant jigs performed
by The Chieftains echoed throughout the estate, but the pace slowed
when the newlyweds took to the dance floor and swayed to the romantic
standard which summed up their feelings, "Fly Me To The Moon."
