Son of Camilla Parker-Bowles Weds Fashion Editor
Who:
Tom Parker Bowles, the son of Camilla Parker-Bowles, and fashion
editor Sara Buys When:
September 10, 2005 Where:
The couple exchanged vows inside St. Nicholas' Church
in Rotherfield Greys, near Henley On Thames, Oxfordshire, England. The Ceremony: It is a bride's prerogative to be fashionably late to her own wedding, and 20 minutes after the scheduled commencement of the nuptials Sara Buys arrived at the Norman house of worship which contained 180 guests, including newlyweds Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles, who thought back fondly on their own April 2005 nuptials during the 45 minute ceremony. The hymns "Jerusalem,"
"Glory, Glory Hallelujah" and "I Vow To Thee My
Country" (which was performed during the 1981 wedding of
Charles and Diana) rang out through the chapel before the rector
pronounced the couple husband and wife. The
Dress: An
umbrella protected the bride from a light rain as she made her
way toward the church in a strapless Alexander McQueen creation
constructed of ivory silk with layers of tulle playfully peeking
out from beneath a trumpet skirt. A long, diaphanous veil edged
with lace clung to a spray of pale roses pinned to the bride's
blonde hair, which was styled in a French roll for the occasion.
A pair of white high heel sandals completed the look. Five bridesmaids wore
ballerina length, sleeveless white silk and chiffon dresses with
crimson sashes added for a splash of color. The Reception: Multi-colored rose petals rained down on the couple as they exited the house of worship and headed toward the bride's home where 450 guests, including Princes William and Harry, sampled a six-tier wedding cake decorated with Swiss white chocolate icing. |
