British Television Hosts Weds Then Honeymoons in Egypt Who:
British television presenter Kate Garraway and former political
lobbyist Derek Draper When:
September 10, 2005 Where:
The couple professed their eternal love inside St. Mary The Virgin
parish church in London, England. The
Proposal: During a romantic excursion to Egypt, the
prospective groom asked for Kate's hand in marriage as the couple
lounged in a hot tub in a luxury suite with a commanding view
of the Nile. Upon her return to work, the co-host of breakfast
show GMTV (who is rumored to have been the muse for the title
character of "Bridget Jones' Diary") announced her happy
news to an audience of 10 million television viewers. The
Ceremony: The bride-to-be allowed herself just six
weeks to plan her wedding, which was shrouded in secrecy from
the daily press due to an agreement to present their story to
a top British magazine. However, spectators outside could hear
the moving melody of Aerosmith's "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing"
as the tune, performed for the event on a piano, echoed within
the confines of the Primrose Hill church. The
Dress: Fans of the television presenter were able to
catch a glimpse of the bride's floor-length, white satin gown
which was partially obstructed from view by the white, fur-lined
coat protecting the bride from the London rain as she walked into
the chapel, clutching a bouquet composed of lillies of the valley. The Reception: A vintage automobile whisked the couple from the house of worship to their reception at the Park Lane Hotel, where 100 family and friends gathered to toast to the newlywed's happiness before their return trip to Egypt, this time as husband and wife. |
