Rugby
Star Andrew Johns Proposes at Lord Howe Island
June 2006 --The
undisturbed beauty of Lord Howe Island, a strip of land two
hours away from Sydney, Australia with a population of 350 people,
provided a romantic backdrop for rugby star Andrew Johns as
the Newcastle Knights player asked for Cathrine Mahoney's hand
in marriage.
The couple, whose
love story began almost four years ago, have not announced a
wedding date.
Although one million
seabirds call Lord Howe Island home each year, a maximum of
400 visitors are allowed on the site at any one time. A hideaway
haven for lovers, 17 retreats ranging from bed and breakfasts
to hotels dot the land.
