EastEnders
Actor Enjoys Civil Partnership Ceremony
March 2006 -- A
love lasting 23 years was legally recognized on March 11, 2006
as Michael Cashman, a political figure who was once a former
cast member of the long-running British television program "EastEnders,"
was united with Paul Cottingham in a civil partnership ceremony.
The couple exchanged
rings purchased in New York during the late afternoon wedding,
which was
held at the Great Halls at Vinopolis, a theatrically lit South
London venue with brickwork walls and vaulted archways surrounding
an area that can accommodate up to 550 people.
A bevy of celebrities,
including Lord of The Rings star Ian McKellen, "Coronation
Street" actress Helen Worth and Mr. Cashman's former "EastEnders"
co-star Barbara Windsor, who had
played Cupid for the couple many years ago, enjoyed the music
of an ABBA cover band during the reception.
