January 2006 -- The love between actress Shelley Winters and Gerry DeFord, the man in her life for the past 18 years, proved to be stronger even than death when the couple were united in matrimony on January 13, 2006, just 10 hours before the Academy Award winner's passing.

The goddaughter of the 85-year-old star, actress Sally Kirkland, who is a minister for the Church of The Movement of Spiritual Awareness, presided over the ceremony.
