Chad
Gilbert Proposes in Movie Theater
December 2005 --Movie
patrons in the lobby of Hollywood's El Capitan Theatre on hand
to see the December 3, 2005 premiere of The Chronicles of
Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe witnessed a
moment to rival that of any big screen romantic finale when
Chad Gilbert, guitarist for New Found Glory, knelt down and
asked for the hand of his love, Sherri Dupree, the lead singer
for the group Eisley.
Exhibits from the
C.S. Lewis cinematic adaptation on display at the theatre through
January 26, 2006 added to the magic of the proposal, which took
place in front of the wardrobe seen in the film. The couple,
who have been an item for most of 2005, have not decided on
a wedding date.
Located on Hollywood
Boulevard, the El Capitan Theatre is a majestic reminder of
Tinseltown's Golden Age. Erected during the flapper era as a
live theater, the building was converted into a movie house
in 1942, and today cinema buffs can relax amid the luxurious
East Indian-inspired decor and enjoy tunes from a live organist
before watching the latest box office blockbuster.
