John Sets Date for Windsor Ceremony
November 2005 --
On December 21, 2005, pop icon Elton John and his partner of
more than a decade David Furnish will usher in the new era with
a civil union ceremony to be held at MacDonald Castle Hotel
in Windsor.
Only moments away
from Windsor Castle, the Georgian edifice is situated on Windsor
High Street directly opposite Guidhall, where Prince
Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles pledged their troth in
April 2005. Civil ceremonies with up to 60 attendees can be
conducted in either the Sandringham or Balmoral suites of the
hotel.
December 5, 2005
will mark the first day same-sex couples can register for civil
partnerships in the UK. With the waiting period, December 21
will be the first day couples will take their vows.
