Duke Weds in Seville
October 2005--Although
over 200 invitations had been distributed, only 40 guests were
privileged to enter the chapel at the Palacio de Las Duenas
to witness the nuptials between Cayetano Martinez de Irujo,
the Duke of Salvatierra, and Genoveva Casanova Gonzalez, which
took place on October 15, 2005 in Seville, Spain.
Halos of flowers
crowned the heads of two tiny flower girls, each wearing ballerina-length
ivory dresses embellished with scarlet sashes at the waist.
The vivid color harmonized with the short pants worn by two
page boys who walked down the aisle ahead of the bride, who
made her entrance in a two-piece ivory gown (reportedly by designer
Manuel Mota) enhanced with a cathedral length train.
A veil four meters
in length constructed of organza and Chantilly lace was attached
to a dainty tiara from the groom's family, the royal house of
Alba. An image of the Virgin of Guadalupe, the symbol of the
bride's home country of Mexico, gazed down at Geneveva from
the walls of the chapel as she made her way toward her intended,
who donned the uniform of the Royal Cavalry Arsenal for the
occasion.
