It's Dreamy: The Willard InterContinental makes a good
home base for romantics visiting DC. The hotel is located on Pennsylvania
Avenue, in the heart of the nation's capital, just two blocks
from the White House and in Washington's downtown, business and
theater districts. Once a welcoming light
in the shadow of Washington's old "Rum Row," the Round
Robin Bar, with its polished mahogany and stately atmosphere,
is the perfect place for a cocktail. The rich historic legacy
of the Willard's venerable bar includes a citation in a poem by
Walt Whitman in 1862, and it was here that famous orator, Kentucky
Senator Henry Clay introduced Washington to the Mint Julep, the
bar's signature drink. For over 150 years, the Willard has been a major force in the social and political life of Washington, D.C. and its Round Robin Bar continues its legacy as a gathering place for those who comprise the very essence of the nation's capital, guests from across America and around the world.
