Wedding Trends at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas

Sept. 2005--Of all of Las Vegas’s exceptional hotels, Caesars Palace remains one of the most elegant, a true accomplishment considering the length of time it has ruled this portion of the Strip. Its wedding venues, all six of them, are also some of the city’s most elegant, elevating the Vegas wedding from a quickie event to a palatial ceremony.

We recently toured Caesars’ wedding venues with Jenna Ball, Assistant Manager – Wedding Services, a contagiously enthusiastic wedding planner whose joy over the whole wedding process comes through in her conversation and her work.

Ball is part of a staff of 11 wedding coordinators and seven other employees who oversee the business of brides. “We have the largest wedding staff in all of Las Vegas,” points out Ball. “Most wedding services have four or five; we have 18 on staff. Most other chapels outsource their wedding photographers but ours are on staff.”

It’s a staff that’s always busy, overseeing the 1600 weddings they receive in a year, both religious and civil ceremonies, including some not-so-typical nuptials. “We have had people ask us for elephants because Celine Dion did that for her wedding here,” notes Ball. “We’ve had a lot of brides brought in by litter. More people come here for a traditional wedding, though.”

Outdoor weddings are the most popular at Caesars Palace.

The average wedding is priced at $2600, although package prices go up to $15,000 for the most expensive exchange of vows, an event that includes two nights in a “Rain Man Suite” made famous by the Dustin Hoffman movie, as well as extras like multiple hours of photography and elaborate flowers.

Vegas Wedding Trends

Ball sees changing trends among Vegas brides. “Gift baskets delivered in the room are popular now. Here in Las Vegas I find people want to have their own personal touches in their wedding.”

Another growing trend is a demand for bachelor and bachelorette packages. “We just started them and they are booming,” says the wedding planner. The hotel’s PUR nightclub is a popular venue for bachelorette parties; spa activities are also a popular choice for bachelorette parties.

Ball is also seeing an increase in the number of vow renewals at Caesars. “We do a lot of renewals. Many are couples who had the big wedding but now want a fun wedding.” The planner estimates the hotel arranges about 10 vow renewals a month. “It is very much a growing trend.”

For many brides--65% in fact--that means an outdoor wedding, in spite of Las Vegas’s legendary heat. “We tell them it will be 100 degrees in July at two in the afternoon but they want an outdoor wedding,” says Ball. Other months are far kinder for outdoor ceremonies. “October is the perfect month for outdoor weddings, and on October Saturdays we’ll do 30 [weddings] a day.”

Roman Romance

For many visitors, Caesars Palace means Roman regalness, thanks to the theme that runs throughout the hotel and casino. About 5-10% of the weddings here incorporate Roman characters, though, as centurions take on roles as ushers or to walk guests to the reception.

Booking a Wedding

Weddings can be booked 12 months before your wedding day. Competition is especially strong for Valentine’s Day, New Year’s Eve, and days with repeating dates (7/7/2007, for example.)
