Cynthia Rowley Weds in Montauk, New York
September 2005--A
proposal in India led to the September 17, 2005 nuptials between
designer Cynthia Rowley and Bill Powers, who pledged their love
at the Montauk abode of photographer Peter Beard.
Being a new mother
and one of the most sought-after designers in the fashion industry,
the bride barely met the deadline for her own wedding dress,
which she completed one day prior to the event. Celebrity guests
Tatum O'Neal, "Sex and The City" creator Candace Bushnell,
"Saturday Night Live" alum Molly Shannon and Rebecca
Romijn (who would receive an 18-carat diamond engagement
ring from fellow attendee Jerry O'Connell the following day)
were on hand to witness the ceremony.
While a full schedule
meant that a far away honeymoon was not to be, the newlyweds
put their own unique stamp on their first days as husband and
wife, inviting friends on a surfing safari in the Typhoon Lagoon
wave pool at Disney World.
