The Coral Princess will be a love boat for cinema buffs when a 15-day Panama Canal cruise sets sail on December 15, 2010 with famed film critic Leonard Maltin charting a course for film fan fun.
The holiday voyage, which departs from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, will be motion picture perfect as movie enthusiasts view four films Maltin has dubbed “Leonard’s Unsung Favorites of 2010,” which he will personally introduce to the audience. The renowned reviewer will also lead a discussion of some of the films shown, motivate passengers to reveal their knowledge of movie minutia in a film trivia contest and will offer an entertaining talk focusing on Hollywood history.
Passengers can experience the box office offerings on Coral Princess’ giant poolside Movies Under the Stars screen or in the Princess Theater.
The film critic’s appearance is an extension of Princess’ cruise line’s exclusive Leonard Maltin Movie Club, a fleetwide club which provides passengers with an onboard screening of a chosen silver screen each month, introduced on video by Mr. Maltin. After the viewing, cruise staff members host an hour-long group discussion of the movie, which includes questions and trivia from Mr. Maltin.
For fans who can’t get enough of flicks, the Leonard Maltin Movie Channel on the ship’s television system in guest’s staterooms features contemporary, classic and animated silver screen selections.
When passengers take a break from reel life, they can enjoy the real life wonders of Cartagena, Columbia, the Panama Canal, Fuerte Amador in Panama, Puntarenas in Costa Rica and Acapulco and Cabo San Lucas in Mexico over the course of the cruise.
