Through the years, we’ve had the chance to stay in private villas several times in the Caribbean. We can truly say you’ll get no better “home away from home” feeling than on a villa vacation. The villa–like your own house but so, so much better–serves as home base for your romantic getaway.
We just learned about some new villas available to romantic travelers on the exclusive island of Mustique. The new Villa Honeymoon Collection is scattered along this 1,400-acre private island paradise in the Grenadines with 72 designer villas, each with its own distinctive architecture and atmosphere.
Dreamy Choices: Newlyweds seeking their dream honeymoon can opt for one of the 12 two-bedroom villas and cottages now part of the Villa Honeymoon Collection: Aurora’s “Jasmine Cottage,” Bali Hai, Blue Waters, Heron Bay, Shogun’s “Little Shogun,” Moana, Rocina, Samambaia, Seastar, Serenity Bay, Simplicity and Sunrise’s “Beach Cottage.”
What They Include: Each villa is set in spacious, landscaped grounds with private terraces, fresh-water swimming pools and spectacular views of the crystal Caribbean Sea or Atlantic Ocean. Villas are also outfitted with air conditioning, broadband access and a dedicated staff, including a personal chef, which reside on the premises and take care of every need.
When booking a stay at one of the villas in the Honeymoon Collection, lovebirds can enjoy a special complimentary in-villa couples massage or dinner for two at Veranda Restaurant at the Cotton House, the island’s only resort.
Romantic Fun on Mustique: Mustique’s list of romantic offerings includes deserted picnics on the world-famous Macaroni Beach (photo, right), night-time dives together under the stars, sunset cruises, horseback riding trails on the beach and moonlit walks on sandy grounds of Pasture Beach where you might bump into a leather back turtle laying eggs. Honeymooners can also head over to Basil’s Bar & Restaurant, the island’s infamous open-air, thatched roof beach bar that serves up cocktail favorites like the ginger-infused “Mustique Mule.”
Rates: Villa Honeymoon Collection rentals are available from August 15-December 15, 2010 for a minimum seven-night stay with rates from $7,000 to $10,000 per week, plus 18% tax.
Free Flight Transfer Bonus: As an added bonus, complimentary flight transfers between Barbados and Mustique are offered to guests who stay for a minimum of two weeks.
