Are you planning a trip to the Dominican Republic soon? The DR, which shares the island of Hispaniola with Haiti, is an important staging place for many aid groups in this difficult time.

Just this morning, we received news from AM Resorts (Zoetry, Secrets, and Dreams), which has romantic resorts in the Dominican Republic, that “you can help contribute by bringing medical supplies with you, which will then be delivered to local relief centers and given directly to those in need.”

Here’s a list of needed supplies, many of which you can find at your local supermarket (and many won’t take much room in your luggage but could be so important to those in Haiti):

  • Analgesics (acetaminophen, ibuprofen)
  • Tetanus toxoid
  • Ganmaglobulina human tetanus
  • Antibiotics (amoxicifilina, in suspension and / or tablets)
  • Antiseptics (Betadine type or chlorhexidine soap type)
  • Sanitary napkins
  • Oral rehydration
  • Gauze
  • Cotton
  • Slings
  • Elastic Bandage
