Looking Back at 2009

It’s hard to believe we’re hours away from the end of 2009–and even harder to believe we’re just hours away from Lovetripper’s 10th year on the web! We’ve got big plans coming up to celebrate the 10th anniversary (which must be like a century in Internet years)…but, first, one last look back at 2009!

It has been a tough year on the travel industry, a fact we’ve heard no matter where we’ve traveled and no matter what professional we’ve talked with: hoteliers, tour operators, travel publishers.

The power of romance is strong, though, and, regardless of economic and travel concerns, the world remains ready to celebrate love with a honeymoon or romantic getaway, even if it’s closer to home that it might be otherwise. This past year, we’ve been called by numerous publications interested in hearing more about romantic travel. A couple of highlights:

This year we also spent a great deal of time and research (yes, it really, really is research) updating our Fodor’s In Focus Jamaica guide, due out later in 2010.

Also new for next year: Best of the Caribbean (Open Road). Closer to home, we also wrote the tiniest book of our careers: San Antonio In Your Pocket (Globe Pequot), a pocket-sized guide to one of the country’s most romantic cities.

This year we also took the plunge into social media, enjoying meeting readers on our Twitter account and our Facebook fan page!

As we look forward to 2010, we look forward to a year of bringing you the best of romantic travel for all budget levels. Stay tuned for a year celebrating’s 10th anniversary. Happy New Year!
