Still making New Year’s Eve plans? If you’re looking for a Connecticut getaway, we just received a whole list of ideas from Litchfield Hills:

At The Interlaken Inn (800- 222-2909 or 860- 435-9878; www.interlakeninn), an 80-room resort located on 30 acres in Lakeville, New Years revelers will feast on a fabulous dinner, and dance to the music of Scott Heth & Company, a versatile band with a repertoire ranging from jazz and big band to Motown and today’s Top 40 pop hits. They will also enjoy an open bar all evening, including the inn’s renowned New Year’s Eve martini bar, plus a champagne toast at midnight.

Dinner at the Interlaken begins with an appetizer buffet, including a raw bar with hand-shucked fresh oysters and clams, prepared-to-order, Peking-style Duck, and a Sushi Station. Main dish choices include horseradish-encrusted filet mignon and baked organic salmon, served with caper-chive sauce. The dessert menu includes a lavish chocolate fountain and delicate crepes flambéed to order.

Those who stay the night will wake up New Year’s morning to a hearty New England breakfast buffet, served with Bloody Mary’s and champagne.

After a night in a spacious guest room, celebrators will enjoy a bountiful Ivy Room brunch.

is a 12-room charmer and a New England classic. A fixture in the village since 1796, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Warm New Year’s hospitality at the inn will include candy and champagne in guest rooms, a four-course dinner and a full country breakfast in the morning.

The evening menu choices may include a choice of appetizers, crisp green salad, and entrees such as roast ducking with black cherry sauce, filet of salmon with béarnaise sauce, baked stuffed shrimp and roast beef. Delectable desserts like key lime pie, maple crème brulee, cheesecake and deep dish apple crisp are a happy ending to the meal.

The intimate Inn at Kent Falls (860-927-3197; a 1741 home turned bed and breakfast, offers six guest rooms and five fireplaces, a cozy setting for making New Years resolutions. Their New Years Eve package offers two nights in a beautifully appointed guest room or suite, each stocked with a bottle of champagne and handmade chocolates, plus a sumptuous New Years morning brunch.

Price: Rates begin at $395 for two. The hosts will help you make dinner reservations at one of the many excellent restaurants nearby.

To add more country charm to the holiday, reserve a carriage ride offered at two Litchfield Hills farms. Both switch to sleigh rides when the necessary snow is on the ground.

At Wood Acres Farm in Terryville, (860-583-8670, the ride goes across 25 acres of wooded trails, ending with refreshments in the owners’ country home.

Beth’s Buggy and Sleigh Rides based at Loon Meadow Farm in Norfolk (860) (542-6085; )offers two choices, a sightseeing jaunt through the historic town of Norfolk or a country canter along eighteenth century roads through woods and fields. Guests receive cozy lap robes for cuddling during the ride and hot mulled cider back home at the farm.
