Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas

The city of Hot Springs is named for the centerpiece of this park–you guessed it, hot springs. Nearly 50 hot springs have long attracted travelers to this spot for treatment of arthritis. Today the city attracts couples seeking the small town, relaxed atmosphere.

Are We There Yet?

Hot Springs National Park is easy to find–it’s located downtown in the city of Hot Springs. The park is located on Bathhouse Row on Central Avenue; national park signs lead the way from throughout the city.

What’s There To Do Here?

The visitors center is housed in the former Fordyce Bathhouse, one of eight bathhouses that once filled Bathhouse Row. In its time, the Fordyce boasted elegant mosaic floors and stained glass windows.

Miles of hiking trails wind through the park. Kids can take part in a Junior Ranger Program at the visitor’s center as well.

When Are We Going?

The summer months are the peak time for a visit to this park. Dress coolly during these months; temperatures can be hot and humid.

How Long Are We Staying?

You’ll want about half a day for a look around the park.

What Should I Bring?

Bring comfortable walking shoes for strolling along Bathhouse Row and sunglasses and a hat during summer months.

Which One Is My Room?

Camping is available at Gulpha Gorge Campground.

Hot Springs offers plenty of hotel and motel options, visit http://www.hotsprings.org/.
