RONAN
KEATING
by Grace Sydney
American audiences were first introduced to Ronan Keating's voice
though the soundtrack of the Julia Roberts' movie, "Notting
Hill", where he can be heard both as a solo act and in his
former band, Boyzone. A native of Dublin, Ireland, Keating's first
taste of fame came during his adolescence as a member of one of
Europe's best-selling boy bands, and he has taken the knowledge
gleaned from that experience to become co-manager of Westlife,
one of the top acts in the UK today. Still in his twenties, Ronan
Keating co-writes much of his own material, and he sings with
an emotional maturity beyond his years.
DESTINATION
In his sophomore effort,
Destination, Ronan Keating tugs at the listener's heartstrings
with a remake of Garth Brooks' "If Tomorrow Never Comes,"
an instant hit in the UK upon its release as the album's first
single, and in his rendition of the Bob Seger classic, "We've
Got Tonight." The album is a well-balanced mixture of sentimental
ballads and upbeat tunes.
