Beres
Hammond Growing up in St. Mary, Jamaica, Beres Hammonds' musical influences came from a variety of genres, and from this diversity was born his unique stylistic blend of reggae, ska, and R&B. The lead singer of the group Zap Pow in the 1970's, he left the band after four years to strike out on his own, and his first solo effort, Just A Man, was released in 1980. A respected singer/songwriter for the past three decades, Beres Hammond has broadened his musical horizons with his own record label, Harmony House, where he produces a new generation of musical acts. LOVE FROM A DISTANCE A seductive concoction of reggae and R&B, Beres Hammond's 1996 release, Love From a Distance, is music that speaks to the soul. From the sultry lyrics of "Highlight of The Day," the sweet romance of "Rose Garden," to the life-affirming anthem "Sing Glory," each track is a joyful celebration of life and love.
